Dried Single
Peppermint Leaf
$8 BY WEIGHT
What it is
Whole dried peppermint leaf, loose by weight — bright, cooling, unmistakably itself.
The sensory experience
Crush a leaf between your fingers before you brew it and the smell arrives before the tea does — sharp, cold, almost minty enough to sting. Steeped, it softens into something rounder. Good on its own, better as the thing that wakes up a blend that’s gone a little flat.
Materials
- Peppermint leaf (Mentha × piperita)
Provenance
Grown and dried by hand. Cut before flowering, when the oil is sharpest.
How it may be used
- Steeped on its own, a heaping teaspoon per cup, 5–7 minutes
- Blended into other teas for a cooling lift
- Added to iced tea in the worst of the Austin summer
Safety & use notes
- If you have acid reflux or GERD, peppermint can make symptoms worse for some people — go easy at first.
- Not intended to replace medical care. Consult a doctor if pregnant, nursing, or on medication.
